WorldSkills is like the Olympics for skills training and Central Graphic Design Production student Chris Williamson is one step closer to representing Australia following his win at the regional competition.

Earlier this year, Central hosted the 2015 WorldSkills WA Regional Graphic Design Technology competition for Cert III for Printing and Graphic Arts (Graphic Design Production) students.

The results are in and Central has come away with outstanding results proving our students are at the forefront of Graphic Design in WA.

Central students came first, second, third and fourth for at the regional competition.

The results are:

1st Place: Chris Williamson

2nd Place: Cody James Ballantyne

3rd Place: Claudia Donovan – Hicks

4th Place: Thitikorn Phuengkam

Chris Williamson will be presented his gold medal The Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth on the 1 December along with the other successful competitors.

Following his win, Chris will have the opportunity to represent WA and Central when he competes at the national WorldSkills competition next year for a chance to represent Australia internationally.

The high calibre of all Central Graphic Design Production students will be on display at the graduate show located at Building 4, 133 Newcastle Street, Northbridge on 30 November from 6-8pm.

Not only will the work of our graduates be on display, but also pizza from Stuzzico and a letterpress so you can print your own Christmas cards.

Art Takes Over Aberdeen

Jewellery and Visual Art have taken over 12 Aberdeen Street, as Central shows off the abundance of talent found among this year’s graduates.

The Creative Industries Graduations Shows continue to out do themselves with all areas from Interior Design to Animation and Games continuously raising the bar.

It’s fitting then, that the final and biggest Creative Arts Graduate Exhibition was left to last, transforming 12 Aberdeen into one enormous gallery.

Amongst the gallery’s white walls and corridors you will find works across a variety of media including sculpture, painting and mixed media, interrogating subject matter just as vast and varied.

The exhibition runs until 13 December and proves why Central is one of the leading Art colleges not only in WA, but the whole of Australia.

And don’t forget with many items for sale, you may even find the perfect Christmas gift, so come down and discover the best of Central.

It’s that time of year again – one that sees Central‘s 2014 Creative Industries Graduation Exhibitions in full swing.

Each and every year Creative Industries graduates show why Central is one of the leading art, design and media schools in Australia.

Central’s Graphic Design students are currently showing off their hard work in the ‘Fresh Collective’ exhibition in Gallery Central, 12 Aberdeen St until 22 November.

The exhibition features a range of graphic styles and applications used by students in their final projects, including illustration, typography, branding, advertising and digital design.

So come down and check out the best up and coming creatives Central currently has walking through our halls. From Interior Design to Jewellery, Photography to Games and Animation, Central’s Creative Industries Graduation Exhibitions may just inspire you to create your own magic.

Artlinks now on

The 2014 Artlinks Exhibition is on now until November 10 in ‘C’ block of Central’s Leederville campus.

Artlinks offers courses for people with mental illness, physical mental or learning disabilities for a variety of abilities and experience. The classes use a range of media including sculpture, paint, drawing and textiles.

The exhibition is open daily from 8am to 5pm with some artwork for sale.
